they have many words that are quite similar but you need to use the right one in different contexts or something? I feel like i'm chatting shit though

shin: yeah but from what i can remember there's fairly set ending endings for past tense. if i say "i read ___" in english it's contextual whether it's present or past tense, and then based on that, how the word read sounds is also contextual

shin: it's also somewhat easy with the pronounciation because like, all the vowels in japanese sound the same

shinmera: I think I was on level 8 at the time I stopped last year... doing it everyday is kind of a chore

shinmera: how do people get so fucking good at anything? like you are with programming
21:32:05

shinmera: Your perception of self sounds skewed. You're good at both of those things.
21:34:06

shinmera: what gingy said. those people who do one thing really, really well suck ass at everything else
21:35:14
schmoopy
shinmera: they focus on one thing, and that ends up being to the detriment of other skills
21:36:39

shinmera: rich parents who can afford after school art programs and tutors and expensive fancy pencil sets n shit
21:39:24
gingerale
shinmera: I do think that people who are really exceptional at most things they do is cool to have around.
21:40:24

shinmera: different people definitely do learn in different ways and that should also be taken in to account. but i also think that income and affordable spare time has something to do with it. hear me out
21:40:56

shinmera: Not to inspire, it's just good to know there are people who can handle things because I sure can't. So I'm free to do my own thing and not worry when I can't do anything.

shinmera: there, especially over here in the u.s. has been a mass defunding in the arts across schools. there's been a school i've seen that went months without an english teacher, in a poor area. so people who have wealthier parents that can afford art programs and the necessary tools to fund them, have a leg up over others
21:44:48

shinmera: Clearly we need a motivational team work talk person to teach about letting other people help with buzzwords about synergetic existence.
21:47:48

shinmera: there's that semi-comfortable middle class-ish wealth though. my nephew, his mother had middle class parents. so my nephew got to go to private school and now plays in the orchestra. there's really wealthy people who will never have to work a day in their life, and then there's that middle class area where they have enough money for a person to be able to have the breathing room to find something they're good at
21:49:20

shinmera: he's not in the school orchestra. i was in the school orchestra. he's in the tacoma-seattle philharmonic or some shit. does concerts
21:51:16

shinmera: the people you're focusing on are just freaks. mutants like felix mendelssohn who somehow wrote a fucking symphony at the age of 4 n shit. absolute weirdos
21:53:46
schmoopy
shinmera: it's weird. the path of history. some old lady who made a soothing tea for someone who had a sore throat and it worked got burned at the stake but not these mutants who clearly sold their soul for their abilities
21:55:18
gingerale
shinmera: Iain M. Banks wrote a nice scifi book series about a post-scarcity world where a group of AI handle everything for humans in an utopistic world.
21:56:08

shinmera: It's still on-going. But their goal is to get all the cultures in existence to join their care. The biggest issue is that humans tend to get bored.
21:57:13
gingerale
shinmera: That is discussed in the book Player of Games to a small extend. It's a good book.
