For me it's CLOSTRUM/VIRTUAL that's missing
8:47:20
beach
That one should no longer be needed. It was replaced by CLOSTRUM-BASIC.
8:47:28
beach
Where do you see CLOSTRUM/VIRTUAL?
9:05:05
Duuqnd
If I grep for it in SICL it shows up a few times
9:05:20
Duuqnd
actually I think this might be my fault
9:06:49
Duuqnd
looks like I was still using the fork I had from when I made that random number generator module
9:07:10
Duuqnd
and I hadn't fetched from upstream in a long time
9:07:11
beach
That would explain it.
9:07:20
Duuqnd
I was like 400 commit behind
9:07:52
Duuqnd
Well, I'm getting a different component missing now
9:07:56
Duuqnd
now it's SICL-FILE-COMPILER
9:08:20
Duuqnd
Maybe I need to do ql:register-local-projects again
9:09:34
beach
It is in Compiler/File-compiler/sicl-file-compiler.asd
9:10:44
Duuqnd
Alright, now it's SICL-BOOT-ENVIRONMENT that's missing, just like what the others had
9:11:50
beach
Ah, yes, I see the problem.
9:14:06
beach
Great! Thanks for finding that.
12:48:15
pfd
:Duuqnd Are you invoking the bootstrapping in the usual way?
12:48:15
pfd
I just re-cloned and (asdf:load-system :sicl-boot) gives me the same problem.
12:48:16
pfd
But if I do (asdf:load-system :sicl-boot-trucler) I almost make it past Stage 1, but not quite.
12:48:16
pfd
It still takes a long time, trying and trying until it asks me to 'Accept' too many times.
12:48:17
pfd
Something's still not right for me.
12:49:05
beach
pfd: What is the problem again?
12:49:08
Duuqnd
I'm doing it the usual way, yes
12:49:34
beach
pfd: You probably need to do (ql:register-local-projects).
12:50:29
pfd
Let me do that again. 12 hours ago, I did so and all were up to date. But let me try again.
12:50:46
beach
Yes, but the new clone added a system.
12:54:56
pfd
I'm now getting SICL-BOOT-PHASE-1 does not exist, with the option to 'Accept. But of course, that goes nowhere.
12:54:57
pfd
I think I better delete all the packages in QL and start over.
12:55:21
pfd
maybe also clear out a cache somewhere too.
12:59:15
pfd
Hmm, I wonder if the conflict is with the fact that I also built CLASP, and it uses some of the same dependencies....
13:09:26
beach
Doesn't sound plausible to me. But who knows.
14:10:01
pfd
I'm getting too many fatal errors duing stage 1 of compilations; between 23 and 37...
14:10:01
pfd
After the first run I saw complaints about alexandria, so I explicitly loaded it before retrying,
14:10:02
pfd
which ten icreased the fatal errors to 37! After both processes 'boot' is left undefined.
14:10:45
hayley
37! errors is indeed a lot more than 37.
14:12:04
pfd
I just added an exclamation mark at the end of my sentence. It doesn't stand for a some numerical flag.
14:14:48
pfd
Previously, I usually had to 'Accept' 2 to 4 times during phase 1 of bootstrap.
14:16:52
beach
pfd: This shouldn't happen.
14:19:41
pfd
OK. I'll keep troubleshooting. Maybe I'll take stock and delete my whole QL folder, and start over.
14:19:41
pfd
If that doesn't work I'll downgrade SBCL to 2.2.2 or 2.2.3. Maybe I'll even downgrade Emacs from the 28,1 version I'm using to 27.2.
14:19:42
pfd
I'm just guessing at this point.
14:20:14
beach
I don't think it has to do with Emacs or SBCL.
14:20:37
beach
Check what other people here have before working too hard.
14:22:36
pfd
compiling #<CL-SOURCE-FILE "sicl-boot-base" "utilities"> is the first error I get.
14:23:14
pfd
[Condition of type UIOP/LISP-BUILD:COMPILE-FILE-ERROR]
14:23:44
beach
Maybe you need to tell ASDF to not take warnings into account.
14:24:01
beach
I think by default, it considers a warning during compilation to be an error.
14:25:15
beach
(setf asdf:*comile-file-failure-behaviour* :ignore) in your .sbclrc.
14:25:25
beach
Not the British spelling.
14:40:03
pfd
It's my sbcl. It wasn't behaving consistently at the command line. Sometimes upon invocation it produced strange errors. So, that must be the culprit.
14:40:04
pfd
I'm currently allowing apt to install 2.2.3.
