19:17:24 bike i don't understand the problem exactly, but if i change the scanner to use fields of ephemerons of weak pointers and ephemerons directly, the crash seems to go away

19:17:43 bike so mmtk needs an actual T_O**, not a shim, as i was putting in in order to fake weak pointers and ephemerons. i guess that makes sense
