I was wondering, is it possible to create a language patch where the characters just say the same thing again and again?

it would be a good visual cue and would help me for some scoring tricks, and apparently it's allowed

1) Use the Touhou Patch Center wiki translation. Quite tedious because you have to edit and save every text box separately, but possible.

2) Create and host your own thcrap patch as described on https://thpatch.net/wiki/Touhou_Patch_Center:Servers#Building_your_own_patch_server . You still have to edit every text box separately, but it's probably faster since you can just edit plaintext files and you retain full control over them.

If you prefer to go with 1), just ask MuffinPimp to create a new language code for you.

so I just follow the steps in https://thpatch.net/wiki/Touhou_Patch_Center:Tutorial ?

this won't really be in a new language and I'm probably the only person who will ever want to use this :3

just to explain what I'm doing: I'm scoring SA with Reimu C and there's a hard trick preceded by boss dialogue, and I want to change the dialogue to give me a better visual cue

Alright, completed the language setup. You can now select your patch in thcrap_configure. It's "cue" under the thpatch section.

Also, you can use https://thpatch.net/wiki/Portal:Cue to describe your patch if you want to. It's now linked from the main page.

something just came up so I'll be busy for maybe half an hour but then I'll check it out

The patch works great! I just had one little problem with it when it tried to display japanese text
15:15:43
morth
but it's not really a big deal since I can make a completely new string of text to use

Yes, this happens if you have script_latin as part of your patch stack, because it sets its own font (and font size) which is not intended to work with Japanese.
