I have no clue, whatsoever; and please do not apologize for that, at least, not to me.

github lists the latest versions as numbered according to publication date, rather than 1.2.3-style numbering.

the v1.0.1-rc tag is on a commit from 2017 https://github.com/stumpwm/stumpwm/tree/v1.0.1-rc

scaniatrucker: seriously though, either go with stable, or go with newest; and avoid the urge to automatically seek out the newest news.

adlai: That’s what I understand. I’m not following the latest versions. I asked anyway for curiosity. Wanted to know. But it is strange why roswell downloaded an older version instead of the latest, stable one.

adlai: Roswell is a Lisp implementation installer/manager, launcher. It is a full-stack environment for Common Lisp development, and has many features that makes it easy to test, share, and distribute your Lisp applications. https://github.com/roswell/roswell

ACTION was aware of it as an implementation multiplexer, didn't realize it was making everyhing else overly easy, too.

adlai: I am an intermediate beginner in CL (I know enough / less to be dangerous stupid) I struggle a bit with the best way to install stumpwm on my devuan box. So, i choose roswell

ultimately your installation is just another compiler, so you can change the version if you are unsatisfied

the good thing about being able to switch implementations is that they have wildly different startup times

adlai: ok. The 1.0.1 is table. Never crashed for me. So i stay with this version.

adlai: Strangely enough, the official website of stumpwm, has a latest stable version 1.0.0 listed in the download section. And a version of git. There are no hints of a newer version. But it doesn't matter. I will stick with that version that works stably. It's just weird why the website information isn't updated ...
