Hi! I'm trying to duplicate my setup on another machine. As far as I can tell, they should be (pretty much) identical, slime installed through quicklisp-slime-helpter, stump compiled from source, both are Arch Linux (but different install years). However, on my new machine, when trying M-x slime-connect, I get:

open-network-stream: make client process failed: Connection refused, :name, SLIME Lisp, :buffer, nil, :host, 127.0.0.1, :service, 4004, :nowait, nil

I wonder if this could be related to something with global environment variables? (Not sure which).

I can try if from a normal sbcl/slime session. Hmm, but then swank has already loaded. If M-x slime.

Hmm, (require 'swank) through stumpish says: "Failed to find TRUENAME of NIL/: No such file or directory"

This is the same/similar error I got the other day from when trying to run SBCL, until I manually edited in SBCL_HOME path. Reason I didn't have it, I think, is because I set "setopt noglobalrcs" in my zsh, as recently it's started putting a retarded "smiley face" as right prompt, overriding my own right git/svn info right prompt.

Well, there are many options how to make sure some package is found. It also a good idea to make sure you actually have it on your system…

I guess StumpWM doesn't get some part of your environment variables containing the path to QuickLisp installation or something like that

Yeah, I suspect it is related to this new retarded zsh crap. Grrrr. Well, I'll need to find a proper solution to that as well.

Well, you can load QuickLisp's setup.lisp from stumpwmrc if you are brave of heart

Hmm, I'll poke around more "upstream", how to properly get zsh to not replace my prompt by a retarded smiley face. (What's this world coming to)

But on a fresh arch install I get a very long file in /etc/zsh/zshrc, that I don't even have on my older, properly working, machine.

Maybe one got copied over from the install ISO? The live cd comes with zsh, including some configuration

I get about 10 hits in /etc/zsh/. Not strong enough to tell if any is pertaining to prompt.

Actually, there are several print error messages with a error message string that end with sad face there.

Hmm, how to find out ownership of a file. Anyway, that falls outside the subject of this channel.

What is nice about NixOS, is that this question is actually answered by readlink -f
