I am trying to create a volume menu for my stump config
23:03:53
jmccabe
I don't want the menu to quit when I select an option
23:04:40
jmccabe
I'm guessing I can undefine the RET key
23:07:55
scottj
jmccabe: been waiting for you to return. checkout pavol, it's a great extension that controls pulse volume via stumpwm
23:08:52
scottj
jmccabe: if you decide to build it yourself, I think someone mentioned define-interactive-keymap last time
23:09:11
jmccabe
OK I must have missed that
23:09:15
scottj
jmccabe: but iirc you sometimes leave too quickly after asking questions
23:09:32
scottj
jmccabe: it often takes hours to get an answer here

I threw together a menu but my lisp skills are not great :)
23:09:52

23:10:35
jmccabe
So I'm using Stumpwm 18.05
23:10:47
jmccabe
So was looking through the code
23:10:55
scottj
18.05 sounds like a ubuntu version
23:11:08
jmccabe
https://github.com/stumpwm/stumpwm/blob/18.05/menu.lisp#L133
23:11:26
jmccabe
Yeah seems to be the latest release on github
23:11:27
scottj
TIL stumpwm's new version numbers
23:13:02
jmccabe
defun menu-finish seems to throw a :menu-quit
23:13:20
jmccabe
Which I think causes my menu to close
23:28:51
scottj
jmccabe: the original appears to have been deleted, http://dpaste.com/2NZE4QZ
23:29:12
scottj
jmccabe: reminder to checkout define-interactive-keymap
23:31:41
jmccabe
Thanks scottj I see pavol now will have a look
23:33:19
jmccabe
I don't know how to write the function menu-finish and just get it to select an option
23:34:20
jmccabe
without calling the (throw :menu-quit (nth (menu-state-selected menu) (menu-state-table menu))))
23:34:54
jmccabe
I want to bind the RET key to that function
23:37:43
jmccabe
I should say I have binded the RET key to the defun menu-finish function
23:38:25
jmccabe
But when I remove the (throw :menu-quit it doesn't select the option for me

fauxm
how does one change the focus priority of transient windows?
2:21:02
fauxm
usually if a program (say it's window number 1 in the group) spawns a transient window (which is now number 2), and then I close that transient window, stumpwm jumps focus back to window 0 (or whatever the first in the stack)
2:21:31
fauxm
if the parent program is the only other one open it's not a huge proble, but it's kind of annoying to have to switch back to the app i was using after I close a transient dialog
2:22:55
fauxm
can't see much about focus rules
2:30:03
scottj
fauxm: don't think there's any configuration options to fix that
