Anyone else able to crash stumpwm when they run restart-{hard,soft}? It happens to be pretty frequently and it's annoying to lose all my work and get kicked back to the DM...

sjl: I seem to recall a similar bug report. What is restart-{hard,soft}? Does it restarats the XServer?

wrap the entire thing in a (truncate ) at the end if you want a nice clean integer at the end

also probably want to make sure it works if your command returns something that's not an integer, e.g. if you disconnect wifi or something

i still love the fact that my 3 page lua implementation of workspaces took just ONE 10 line function for stump

(parse-integer "bork" :junk-allowed t) => NIL and handle the nil case however you want

PuercoPop: I'm not 100% sure how restart-hard and soft are supposed to behave. I've been using them because they seem to work to unbork my screens after I plug/unplug my external monitor.

If I just plug in the external monitor, nothing happens. I have a shortcut to run the xrandr commands to set the monitors up how I like them, and doing that at least makes the monitor realize it's connected and turn on properly

But stumpwm still doesn't actually let me use it (or, in the case of disconnecting, it still thinks the monitor is connected and puts windows into the ether)

so then I run restart-hard, which usually will: kill all my frames and splits but leave all the actual programs running, so I have to rebuild all the splits and stuff, but my programs aren't closed

(note the _ after my name, which is because it just did this to me not too long ago, and I had to log in and start my IRC client again, which connected before freenode noticed my old nick was gone
