8:06:24
benf4
(list-modules) returns NIL btw
8:06:33
benf4
just realized i can use eval while running
8:13:51
benf4
im going to restart stumpwm but iwll be back if i cant fix (dont have znc yet so cant close without disconnecting)
8:15:51
benf4
still no luck with (add-to-path)
8:21:34
benf4
still not working after mving stumpwm-contrib to ~/stumpwm/contrib
8:25:11
benf4

Try giving full path without using ~ maybe?
8:34:22
benf4
MichaelRaskin, tried (add-to-load-path "/home/ben/stumpwm/contrib") but still same error, thanks
8:36:32
benf4
i installed through github and am using gentoo btw
8:36:40
benf4
with sbcl, followed readme
8:37:01
benf4
and then i cloned contrib separately
8:37:17
benf4
and moved it into stumpwm/contrib
8:37:25
benf4
and renamed it as contrib i mean
8:37:26
MichaelRaskin
Currently I have (set-module-dir "/full/path/to/contrib") (load-module "module-name")
8:37:40
benf4
i shall try set-module-dir thanks
8:38:22
benf4
it seemed to work on console, trying in cfg
8:41:12
benf4
woot! loaded the module thanks!
8:43:28
benf4
the package doesnt seem to draw the gaps unfortunately
8:43:34
benf4
maybe the core changed
8:45:11
benf4
oh, haha had to run the command toggle-gaps
8:46:32
benf4
would it be hard to develop window decorations to stumpwm by myself?
8:46:41
benf4
so i can have a title bar like in kde with gtk theme
8:46:50
MichaelRaskin
Well, there are floating groups
8:47:12
MichaelRaskin
There StumpWM does draw window borders for dragging windows around
8:47:13
benf4
from what i remembered years ago it was basic window decorations on floating groups
8:47:24
benf4
wouldn't mind one like on kde
8:47:42
benf4
but not sure if kde has there own window decorations compared to other DEs etc
8:48:18
MichaelRaskin
I guess the answer to «why use StumpWM» is «I want a tiling WM and I want to script it in a Lisp»
8:48:30
benf4
yup, more on functionality
8:49:00
MichaelRaskin
And all the drawing StumpWM does is simple and only depends on the basic X primitives
8:49:11
MichaelRaskin
A ver rectangles, more or less
8:50:34
MichaelRaskin
And if one wants any integration with GTK theming… one might actually need to interact with GTK libraries
8:53:54
benf4
ok so it would be a lot of work if i wanted to dev it myself im guessing
8:55:05
MichaelRaskin
Depends on how much you want to achieve, but probably yes
8:55:49
benf4
its mainly just for the looks, I mainly use tiling, but gaps improve it a lot
8:56:31
mood
Note that KDE does not use GTK, but Qt
8:56:48
benf4
has anyone tried using the kde taskbar? it looks like it would be glitchy
8:57:32
MichaelRaskin
mood: I think it still loads half of GTK to support theming integration of GTK apps
9:08:14
mood
Hmm, that wouldn't surprise me
12:04:43
MichaelRaskin
Some of the flashy WMs do have bindings for tiling-ish window handling, by the way
12:05:17
MichaelRaskin
And maybe even scripting, though of course not as comfortable unless you like their preferred language
