beach (IRC): there's new [radeon drivers on linux](https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-prorad-lin-18-40)

shka_
ok, so what is this issue status anyway?

although those drivers don't seem to work on a (non-default) 4.17 kernel, which is a bit sad

no-defun-allowed: Thanks.

no-defun-allowed: Do you think I should install it?
8:51:39
no-defun-allowed
i don't know yet

Can you find out somehow?
8:52:01
no-defun-allowed
i can't remember what tricks i used to install the ubuntu amdgpu in the first place, hah

i asked my friend who helped me install it in the first place, but she's probably asleep

is it confirmed that drivers are to blame?
9:00:40
no-defun-allowed
it's my best guess

About implicit vs explicit exit points?
13:20:53
beach
I am not quite sure what the consequences are.
13:21:28
Bike
I could do it by redefining a bunch of cleavir methods for clasp, or defining subclasses or so on, but I don't want to duplicate too much code...
13:22:29
beach
I mean, what is your suggestion?
13:25:53
Bike
not sure. I'd like to find a way to modify cleavir a bit so that clasp can do this without duplication. I don't know yet what specifically those modifications would be.
13:26:14
Bike
partly i'm just restating the problem to myself, i suppose

And is the lack of this explicit information the reason why inlining fails?
13:27:52
Bike
Mm, no, this has to do with eliminating variable allocas for temporaries like I mentioned before.
13:28:05
Bike
As far as inlining goes, if I revert some of my commits it works but is still a bit slow.
