hey friends. working on some ELS paper reviewer feedback stuff over here, how's everyone else?

..and I'll try to write something that looks like a paper about it soon. How is JACL going?

oh cool, looking forward to reading about it. JACL's good, working on block/return/return-from. thinking about throwing in TCO

I have three main tasks today: 1. Incorporate some more referee remarks. 2. Read phoe's tutorial on the condition system. 3. Continue work on SICL bootstrapping.

Task #3 involves some experimentation. Specifically, I want to see whether I can simply redefine COMPILE at the end of phase 5, before classes are loaded, so that it ties the method functions to environment E6 rather than E5.

Maybe for task #1 I'll start the second paper. I have done one reviewer of the paper about debugging, but the reviews on the paper about method combinations look easier to fix, so it will be more gratifying if I can finish that paper entirely today.

In the spirit of beach, my tasks today include: 1. staring irresolutely at the screen wondering if writing tests would help me debug this function; 2. vaguely browsing around contemplating different documentation systems; 3. getting enthused about something peripheral to the sideline to the tangent to the distraction to the subtask I was supposed to be working on last month; 4. downloading ACM papers to add to the

I guess I'll try to decide what I think is most interesting about my projects for the last productive hour I have today, and then probably will think about it more after that anyway.

well, all that and being stuck inside with my (admittedly small) apartment with my (admittedly classically-sized) family.

We hear on the news that spouse abuse has increased sharply because of the confinement. You need to stay calm.

We have 180m² surface area, two levels, two toilets and three showers for two people, so we meet only for dinner and some TV, basically. It is a delight every time we meet. :)

Sounds blissful. And, to be fair, you are both charming. Not saying that the splittists aren't, of course.

I finished incorporating the referee remarks into my article on method combinations. If someone feels like proofreading the fresh version, there is still room for more names in the "Acknowledgments" section. Specifically, I added a figure that has not been checked, and I added examples of the scenarios at the end of section 1. http://metamodular.com/SICL/representing-method-combinations.pdf in case someone wants to have a look.

So, this is excellent. I think I finished what I intended to do related to task #1, today. That means I can concentrate on task #3 this afternoon, and maybe do a little of #2 later when i am too tired to write code and make design decisions.

The experiment of task #3 failed. Lots of things have not yet been defined for that idea to work.

I have several other ideas though: 1. Move the method function of the corresponding very pure generic function (in E7) to the pure generic function (in E6), since that method function is pure. 2. Move the entire method that way. 3. Move the entire generic function. 4. Rethink the bootstrapping phases.
