I think the next step is for the compiler to find all those BREAKPOINT-INSTRUCTIONs, and create a code object that contains all locations that can be stopped at.

Oh, one more thing, the boot procedure is not noticeably slowed down by having those additional instruction to interpret, and by having to call Clordane in the interpretation method for them.

I started editing the latest chapter of Dyomkin's book, but I am making very slow progress.

beach: I was momentarily startled by the use of := in the key-value chapter you're probably reviewing right now. What do you think about that choice?

ck_: I don't particularly like it. Using it as a loop keyword is a choice, but when they start defining functions with names in the keyword package, I strongly disagree, and I pointed this out to Dyomkin.

Since he has decided not to follow my advice in so many cases, I think I will tell him not to acknowledge me.

maybe you could show the beginning of that process in a future video, I think that would make it slightly easier to understand for a first viewer

I have another question about that book, if you don't mind. It's about the figures. When I try to put myself into the position of someone who is new to those concepts, it is difficult for me to see how much explanative power a cloud with a few arrows into it (for example) really has. But I think it wouldn't be very much use at all. What's your experience with that?

But yeah, there are many aspects of this book that I would have done differently myself.

The beginning of the process is boring at the moment. I am trying to figure out how to make the entire experience better.

i think this blog (which is included in planet.lisp.org) specifically: http://lisp-univ-etc.blogspot.com/2019/

reading the latest chapter, i'm not sure the algorithms get enough attention between the C/Python/Java comparisons, RUTILS idiosyncrasies and low-level optimization "advice" like using (sb-vm::%primitive sb-vm::unsigned-word-find-first-bit x) directly

it seems to be regular text. in this section: https://lisp-univ-etc.blogspot.com/2019/08/programming-algorithms-key-values.html#secondchanceandclockalgorithms

not literally in the listing, but the machine code and internal function discussion takes up a good chunk of the "Second Chance and Clock Algorithms" section
