I really like portacle, I used emacs for developing in c about a decade ago for a couple of years, have never really liked using emacs on windows later though, so I haven't used emacs in the last tenish years

so perhaps I'm doing something wrong, but I have a couple of lisp files I was working on using both windows and linux (really I'm using whatever I got infront of me atm).

The line endings of the files in question are all LF now, but when I load those files that used to use CRLF, Emacs doesn't let me use C-c C-c or C-c C-k to compile the file, even though it says it's in Lisp mode it says those keybindings are undefined :(

One possibility is that there's a missing or superfluous paren somewhere and it fails during setup due to paredit
13:39:45
mlatu
well, that wasn't it, but the minor modes do differ from one 'working' buffer to the problematic one

i was just checking the lists: the one that doesnt work is missing the following minor modes: Eldoc Flyspell Paredit Slime Slime-Autodoc Slime-Trace-Dialog I'll try to enable them

If you activate paredit mode, the minibuffer should tell you if it fails somewhere due to paren mismatch

it must have been an unmatched parens, i'm checking the other files -_- that message in the minibuffer isn't very prominent

I guess I'm just too used to getting slapped in the face with modal message boxes when something goes awry
13:55:54
mlatu
well, if missing semicolons mess up some languages compilation, why shouldnt missing parentheses do the same to another? ^^

Okey, so I can mitigate the coordinate system by just making most layouts default to top-left align

The builder macro is nice, but still too local. I'd prefer something more direct object oriented.
