I've been trying to see if I can figure out how to make a darwin-arm64 build :)

stassats: yeah, the main reason I was asking originally was whether the issues I had with x86-64 sbcl where due to Rosetta 2 or where a known issue

fiddlerwoaroof: write something popular in SBCL and only provide x86-64 binaries on macOS and force Apple (who makes Rosetta 2) to make it work...

I don't think the languages themselves can handle this. It's more like, if Apple cares to support it or not

Joswig appears to have SBCL working on Rosetta 2: https://twitter.com/RainerJoswig/status/1330274771800625153

note that macOS apps are actually directories, individual executables are just bundled inside and run as appropriate

Does SBCL support cross-compiling arm64 from x86-64 and vice versa? I think that that's what would be needed to fully support both platforms of macOS in this transition period, which will take years.
