What is path and pathname?
16:09:44
froggey
ebrasca: what do you mean?
16:16:58
ebrasca
I don't know what is diferent meanings of path and pathname
16:20:52
froggey
they're mostly synonyms. "pathname" will generally refer to pathname objects, but can mean pathname designators (ie pathname objects and namestrings) if the code is being a bit loose with definitions. "path" will usually just mean pathname designators and not specifically pathnames

Can stream-file-position output some number in sectors?
16:25:34
froggey
no, stream-file-position is used to implement the cl file-position function. for binary files, the file position must be measured in bytes
16:28:27
ebrasca
(* fat32-bytes-per-sector sector)
16:29:17
froggey
now what happens when somebody sets the file position to something that's not a multiple of the sector size?
16:29:34
froggey
or reads one byte, which'll advance the file position by 1
16:30:01
ebrasca
Probably stream-file-length is in bytes/octets.
16:31:05
ebrasca
I like it in bytes like in fat32 provide for file sizes.
16:33:02
ebrasca
I don't undestand stream-file-position.

I have done small pull request.
17:03:34
froggey
did you get mezzano to build properly again?
17:08:58
ebrasca
Do you have someting you don't like to write in mezzano but it is good to write?
17:11:01
froggey
implementing disassemble, but that'd require writing a disassembler
17:11:19
froggey
fixing up the tcp/ip stack so it works properly on a real network
17:14:33
froggey
implementing the remaining missing cl functions, these are mostly trigonometry functions (acos, etc) and some sequence functions
17:15:00
froggey
stable-sort isn't actually stable
17:15:06
froggey
random isn't very random
17:15:49
froggey
subtypep is a seemingly endless pit of despair
17:16:16
froggey
anything sound interesting there?
17:18:25
ebrasca
I think I can learn tcp/ip.
17:20:08
froggey
iirc the major problem is that it doesn't implement retransmit at all
17:21:55
ebrasca
I don't understand what mean "iirc".
17:22:24
ebrasca
I think this books can help me : http://wiki.osdev.org/Books#TCP.2FIP

IIRC = "If I Recall/Remember Correctly"
17:25:19
froggey
I've heard that TCP/IP Illustrated is good
17:42:43

froggey: Can you write againg your responce?
17:43:10
ebrasca
My PC have random restart ...
17:44:14
froggey
17:22 < froggey> IIRC = "If I Recall/Remember Correctly"
17:44:17
froggey
17:24 < froggey> I've heard that TCP/IP Illustrated is good
17:54:06
ebrasca
wow +- 1000 pages 1 vol
18:44:41
ebrasca
TCP retransmission is chapter 14

froggey: Where do you plan to put configuration files in mezzano?
18:52:38
froggey
don't know, I haven't thought about it
18:54:16
ebrasca
someting like unix ( eg: >etc> ) ?
18:55:56
froggey
no, something with actual structure & consistency would be nice
19:07:17
ebrasca
I have found mezzano don't have firewall.
