froggey: The first standalone image I created worked fine, but the others don't.

As part of getting the first one to work, I ran build-native-image, fixed a problem, ran build-native-image then installed kboot-install, then ran build-native-image.

Now all of the infrastructure is in place, so build-native-image runs straight through, but the images don't work.

The last thing in the boot log is "Multiple CPUS detected. SMP support is currently experimental and unreliable.

Is it possible SMP is being enabled? I haven't changed anything related to that ...
16:13:52

Or since I installed kboot after running build-native-image, I was wondering now that kboot is installed, build-native-image is picking up the wrong thing ...

fittestbits: are you testing the image in a vm or is this running on real hardware?
16:29:35
froggey
if it detects multiple cpus it'll try to boot them unconditionally. that should be made into a boot option...

froggey
it should print a message about registering a new cpu after the warning, but before the cpu is booted
16:32:51
fittestbits
Just before the warning is "Waking pager thread." then the warning, and that's all.

for now you can comment out the call to boot-secondary-cpus in supervisor/entry.lisp:172

I think it might be running out of memory when allocating things for the new cpu. I'll disable it for now & investigate more thoroughly later

OK - thanks. I'm interested in seeing how well (or not) mcclim runs on real hardware
