Good morning everyone!
10:44:44
Xach
Today I hope to find out why I'm leaking pipes while running shell commands via lparallel!

edgar-rft: nonsense, somebody snuck away his ^
10:45:18

Xach: I'm on the edge of my seat with this quest you're on. Please keep the running commentary
10:45:55
Xach
I will declare victory if I cut my runtime by 25%
10:47:54
ck_
You're allowing quite the margin of error then. I hope you'll cut way more than a quarter
10:48:45
Xach
My other plan is to ditch lparallel and threads and make some work queues and heavier single-threaded subprocesses
10:49:25
ck_
as long as you don't step down towards GNU parallel, all will be well that ends well

puchacz
hi, can I disable the red warning in newer emacsen "Hidden behind deeper element; move to another line?" please?
14:38:41
puchacz
I can see it comes from here: https://github.com/emacs-mirror/emacs/blob/master/lisp/emacs-lisp/lisp-mode.el
14:40:31
puchacz
okay, stack exchange says redefine lisp--match-hidden-arg to always return nil

When trying to use hunchentoots redirect function minibuf is saying these are the args https://imgur.com/8DHsAmV.png but the docs say "redirect target &key host port protocol add-session-id code" what am I doing wrong here? If I try just (redirect "/") sly complains about odd number of args, all I want to do is redirect to a url

flip214
Is there a webdav server implementation for hunchentoot?
16:20:37
flip214
Xach: I guess Greatest Common Divisor ;)
16:21:12
trafaret1
what does t means in (defmethod something... t)?
16:22:11
Bike
looks like it's at the end of the body
16:22:18
flip214
trafaret1: if it's the last element in the DEFMETHOD form, it's the return value
16:22:19
Bike
the t is just a normal form
16:22:42
flip214
if it's in the parameter list, it might be a parameter of unspecified type .... care to paste the whole form?
16:25:47
trafaret1
flip214: I'm trying to learn cl from github this is method from asteroids game in cl
16:25:48
trafaret1
(defmethod collide ((mob mob) (other mob) (world world)) t)
16:26:41
ck_
yeah, that would be the return value
16:27:00
ck_
pretty small world apparently
16:27:44
Bike
yeah, so if COLLIDE is called on two mobs and a world, it returns T without doing any special computation
16:28:46
trafaret1
for what reason shoudl it return t?
16:29:03
Bike
that's impossible for us to answer without knowing more about the program, obviously.
16:29:36
ck_
"for reasons of national security", obviously
16:29:58
flip214
trafaret1: look at the other COLLIDE methods. I guess world with world would return NIL
