15:19:14pls153jackdaniel: I just wanted to mention the origin of the ECL version number "16.x.x": the number 16 means the year of the release, that's how Juan Garcia Ripoll intended it: following his convention, the new name would be something like "19.0.1" (maybe you don't like it, I just wanted to point it out)
15:21:44pjbpls153: I'm just worried for the version following 99.3.2…
15:41:55pls153pjb: but by then we will have Time Machines, so we can go back and correct the errors of past!
16:22:24jackdanielpls153: and what is the idea behind the minor version (second part)? they do not grow by increase of 1 looking at tags
16:23:50jackdanielI'm not particularily sold to any versioning scheme – the idea behind 16.x.y is that y grows on bugfix releases, x when new things are added and 16 changes when there is some major change of inner workings or external api
16:37:50pls153jackdaniel: x and y sound reasonable as you explain them; I don't really care (except for the first number being the year, so one can easily tell how recent the version is; that's why I adopted it for EQL5)
16:39:05jackdanielI'll think about it before the release. thank you for bringing my attention to it
