aeth: as name suggests, it is a hack. C-c will drop you in the debugger and you can abort from interactive-interrupt

I wasn't in SLIME and C-c (or did I try C-d first?) failed miserably, but I might have done something wrong. It probably would work fine in SLIME.

coercing it to a reader macro is not hard, I don't find it more interesting though

Well, it would be entertaining as a reader macro because then you are just a few steps from handling .c files.

that would be unnecessary, because it would go this way: C file --> ECL --> GCC -> OUT file, I find C file --> GCC -> OUT file simpler
