I've tried (push *default-pathname-defaults* asdf:*central-registry*) and (push (merge-pathnames #p"**/") asdf:*central-registry*), and neither helps.

The technique I use is to put a link in ~/.local/share/common-lisp/source to the directory in question.

"CL_SOURCE_REGISTRY=`pwd`// sbcl --dynamic-space-size 10000" got me something that can find the system :sicl-boot.

I first tried "CL_SOURCE_REGISTRY=.//", but apparently it requires absolute pathnames, which is of course absolute garbage.

So, while trying to get enough of a working TeX setup that I can build documentation, I'm poking around trying to figure out what's what. And I run into a Jabberwocky reference in the Cleavir Documentation directory. And then promptly run into "The name of the \asdf{} system that ... is called \texttt{cleavir-ast-to-hir}", which leads me to ask "why do we care what the name is called?" We need to know the name of the system, not what

And I possibly wouldn't've picked up on this if it weren't for the Jabberwocky reference putting me in a rather Carrollean(?) frame of mind.
