Because many classes could benefit from this. The matter classes for one. Aggregates could be treated as sequences of molecules. Molecules as sequences of residues and residues as sequences of atoms.

I can get clasp to work with directories as fasls but my first attempts to convince asdf to use them are coming up short.

regarding this fasl directories, did you pursue the idea of "Bundles" on macosx (I believe Bike posted a link to that)?

drmeister seemed pretty sure that the dsym file needs to actually exist as a separate file, for whatever reason
