1:32:03drmeisterI talked with Martin about this. He thinks it would be good to give them something that illustrates the problem if we could. They’d certainly rewrite it.
1:32:22drmeisterI think I came up with a demonstration in c
1:32:41BikeI mean I can explain the problem fine, I think
1:32:43drmeisterOne source file with three functions wrapped in ifdefs
1:32:51BikeI don't know how to get multiple objects for the same source in C, though
1:33:10Bikeoh, and then you like compile it three times with different defines
1:35:52drmeisterWith a demo and a patch that fixed the demo they’d get on it quick. That’s Martins assessment.
1:36:21Bikei mean i can guess at something but it's going to be banging rocks together level
1:38:36drmeisterThey’ll rewrite it anyway I’m sure.
1:39:59karloszkpoeck: interesting. good to hear it cross compiled at some point - i'm interested in comparing the performance of the self build
1:40:36Bikei guess i could just have it output a file note for every single atom
1:40:54karloszi find that cross compiling sbcl is a nice benchmark because numeric performance is usually not a factor, so but rather being able to elide type checks and optimize structs well
1:42:08karloszhost-1 would be a test of the compiler's speed and host-2 a test of generated code speed
