bjorkintosh: No - 10% overwritten, disks reporting as "raw" (unformatted). Data rescue still running.

SAL9000: oh - thanks. From one small win to another - it's going to be a long journey ...

Any recommendations of reasonable airgap backup methods for home use? Seems that actual tape drives/libraries are overly expensive for that use case...

well, buy a decent external disk, do the data backup/ copy and disconnect the external disk.

I'm running ZFS on my fileserver, so I could use snapshot-send to do incremental backups

shka_: rsync would work, although that leaves the question of what filesystem to use on the destination. zfs would give me bitrot protection, but extra complexity is also bad.

I'd have to set up encryption, which means backing up the encryption keys themselves somehow

So cool. It takes 10-15 years for most companies have the capability and resources to develop a workflow like we have with CANDO. Great work.

I spent the weekend in a fugue state writing and rewriting 1300 LOC to build this thing that is going to ignite our chemistry engine. I couldn't do this without all the careful work you guys have done getting Clasp working smoothly.

Metaphorically - it is very dangerous in the way that any transformative technology is to the established ways of doing things.

Literally though - as long as you don't let the synthesizer fall on you - you will be ok.
