maybe there's a better way to do this. What actually is this symbol? Is it the std::type_info for the class? Maybe we can just use the typeid operator.

I didn't trust that - I thought it might change. Looking it up each time from the name seems safer.

even if it was doing so for some reason, we only do a symbol lookup at compile time, so the runtime would die horribly if it relied on old numbers

what i mean is if the type number changes at any point things will break even as we do it now.

::notify kpoeck I fixed the bordeaux-threads problem (I hope) I changed mp:lock to mp:mutex. I pushed it to clasp's local-projects version of bordeaux threads.
